This method describes the procedure for determining the durability of aggregates. The durabilityindex is a value indicating the relative resistance of an aggregate to produce detrimental claylikefines when subjected to the prescribed mechanical methods of degradation.

This document is similar, but not technically identical to ASTM D 3744-03.
