Full Description

This powerpoint presentation begins by providing a brief overview of disinfection byproducts (DBPs) and halogenated DBP toxicity. The study objective was to examine potassium permanganate (KMnOsub4/sub),chlorine dioxide (ClOsub2/sub), and hydrogen peroxide(Hsub2/subOsub2/sub) as preoxidants for reducing I-THMformation from preformed monochloramine. Two source waters with varying natural organic matter (NOM)characteristics were spiked with bromide andiodide at four bromide and iodide levels, and pH was adjusted and buffered at pH 7.5. Treatment scenarios are presented in detail, along with major findings. Includes tables, figures.
