Full Description

Reports the Programme comprised 98 tests with different system configurations including full transverse, partial transverse, longitudinal ('jet' fans) and natural ventilation. Some of these systems were supplemented with multiple zoning and/or auxiliary smoke extraction devices. The goal was to determine the effectiveness of these various configurations in limiting the spread of smoke and hot gases in case of a fire. The controlled fire in the 2,50 ft (853 m) long tunnel was varied at four levels of intensity - 10, 20, 50 and 100 MW. Each of the tests or test series is the topic of a separate paper. Focuses on common denominators and how well each system performed under similar fire situations. Presents the conclusions. States that the database generated from the tests should permit professionals to develop suitable analytical procedures and safety standards.
