Full Description

An attempt has been made to model the adiabatic twophase flow through a capillary tube in ANSYS FLUENT 12.0 using volume of fluid (VOF) method. The proposed model has been validated with the experimental data of Li et al. (1990) and numerical model of Khan et al. (2007). The predictions of the proposed model are in very good agreement with the abovementioned experimental and numerical results. It has been observed fromthe present analysis that the vaporization begins on the wall at the flash point location in actual copper capillary tubes. Further, the present model also confirms the presence of metastability inside the capillary tube.
